Helping Lex Labrador · 8 September 2018

We are a small dedicated group of volunteers who since 2014 have been rescuing Labradors across the UK to assist owners in the safe, responsible rehoming of Labradors. In 2020 we became a Registered Charity, Number 1191538. We are totally self-funded by fundraising throughout the year.

Story

@Labrador UK Action Group were contacted by a member of the public back in July about this beautiful furbaby Lex.  She was being offered FTGH in a newsagents window!

Lex had served her master for the last 8 years, working in the fields and shooting parties; she was destined for another two years work, as they normally work until around 10 years old!

Unfortunately back in June, as she was exiting the owners Land Rover, she caught her leg badly in the vehicle's bumper and had to be helped to get free.  Initially, we thought damage had only been to one of her back legs, our main concern at this point was to get her into the arms of Labrador Rescue, where she could retire, become an indoor doggy for the first time and then for further medical assessments could be done.

An initial assessment by the rescue's vet has found that the damage is in her back and has affected both her legs, they're thinking it's either vertebrae or slipped disc/s.  A referral has now been made to Noel Fitzpatrick for further assessment and treatment.  The starting cost for this has been £3,000, of which 50% has been paid in advance.

We would really like to help Lex make a full recovery that will change the rest of her life for ever.   Do you think we can get together, as a group, to help her?

I have set up a "Just Giving" page, could or indeed would you help her?
