Story

I never had the chance to meet my father-in-law, Don who was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia in late 2000's.  I now understand the value that the programs and services can bring for both client and caregiver.

My plan is to walk with my partner Dave and our feisty dog Cosmo, 60 minutes every day from September 1st until October 16.  That's 46 days and 2,760 hours of exercise.

I'm raising funds that provide McCormick teams the tools and resources vital to enhancing person-centered care that enriches the lives of residents and those living with dementia, including caregivers through physical exercise, social and spiritual interactions, and brain stimulation exercises. Last year, Fit for Care raised enough money to purchase a WhisperGlide Wheelchair Swing and fund approximately 3-months of additional life enrichment activities and programs. This year's goal is to double this and fund up to 8 months of programs and services. Your generosity means the lives of residents and their families receiving care and support from McCormick will be better served as a result. Your gift ensures we can continue to advance excellence in dementia and senior care for you and the broader London Community - today and tomorrow! Thank you for your support!

About the charity

Established in 1984 and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the McCormick Care Foundation is the fundraising arm of the McCormick Care Group, the governing organization of McCormick Home, McCormick Dementia Services, and McCormick Dementia Research. We’re on a mission to enhance care and enrich the lives of McCormick clients, residents, and families. By working together with our partners in the community, we can support innovations that will advance long-term and dementia care in our community and beyond.
