Story
I am running the 2023 London Marathon to raise much needed funds for The Brain Tumor Charity - The Judy D’Cruz Fund.
Over the last few years I have become aware of the need to raise funds for this charity due to the work done by Judy & her husband Win. They worked with my dad Kevin to raise money by holding live music events with his band, ‘The Old Street Rockers’. At these events I would see Judy & Win running round in their branded T-Shirts decorating the various venues, running raffles and raising cash. They became great friends with our family and they really raised awareness of how deadly this disease is. It is the biggest cancer killer of children & adults under the age of 40.
Judy lived with this disease for 10 years and last year Judy’s tumour returned. When I heard the news I wanted to do something to help, so now I am running The 2023 London Marathon. Very sadly on the 20th January Judy passed away. I was devastated by this news and it has made me more determined to run the marathon and raise funds in honour of Judy, Win, their family and The Brain Tumor Charity. I have run several half marathons that nearly killed me and I swore I would never take on the 26.2 miles of a full marathon - but I feel so strongly about this cause I am determined to conquer my fears!!!
The Judy D’Cruz Fund currently stands at £70,494.76 thanks to the tireless work of Win & Judy. This is a massive challenge but I am determined to do this because Judy’s story and fund means so much to me. So please sponsor me as generously as you can and help me fight to find a cure for this terrible disease.
