On the 13th of April my older brother Craig passed away due to cancer. Craig was first diagnosed with melanoma cancer 4 years ago, he was immediately treated and was given pretty much the all clear. So he carried on living a normal life, unfortunately in early 2015 he went in for a routine operation on what seemed to be a sist on his groin, but it turned out that it was cancer and it had spread to far around his body for them to help him.
When Craig was given this awful news he didn't once complain and he just got on with things like the true warrior he was and still is! He seemed more concerned on how me and the family were dealing with it rather than himself; it was really quite remarkable. Even when Craig new he was getting more and more unwell he never failed to raise a smile and crack a wild joke or phrase out of nowhere! The wonderful nurses could not get over his strength and braveness and was nicknamed and known as the 'Legend' in Holme towers Penarth.
I am hoping on being able to raise the funds needed to join a wonderful gang and my amazing sister Tracey who is also running in the half marathon on a once in a lifetime opportunity to trek through the rain forests and mountains of San Jose, Costa Rica. Craig would love me to do this because he was a true warrior, a gladiator himself and would always will me on and was always keen to listen to me and encourage me to do outrageous adventurous things!
So fingers crossed everyone could lend a big hand and push me onto the target I need to reach! I know Craig would be incredibly proud.
