We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. If you've ever completed a sporting event and trained for months beforehand, you'll know it still takes a lot of physical and mental strength.

Picture doing that event for 27 hours 40 mins back to back without rest or scenery and split between a rowing machine, exercise bike and treadmill, using nearly every muscle in your body.

Not only am I rowing, biking and walking 27.4km on each piece of equipment and completing 274 press ups in between, but I'm doing it 3 times in a row with added exercises to complete the 27.4 hour challenge.

Why am I taking this on? It costs the equivalent of £2,740 to fund a day of research at one of the Centre of Excellences that Brain Tumour Research fund. They also work to influence the Government and larger charities to provide more funding for research. So that's where the number 27.4 is derived from and I wanted to challenge myself on a scale which would make a donation worthwhile, so I added 2 more disciplines and some press ups and 27hours 40 minutes to do it in.

This is the format of the challenge ahead:

3 Rounds of;

70 Press Ups (7 x 10 - 30 second rest)
Rower 2.30/500m = 2 hours 10 mins
70 Press Ups (7 x 10 - 30 second rest)
10 minutes drink break
Bike 75 rpm level 3 = 1 hour 48 mins
70 Press Ups (7 x 10 - 30 second rest)
10 minutes drink break
Treadmill 6.8kph = 4 hours 21 mins
64 Press Ups (8 x 8 - 30 second rest)

Total times:

Rowing Machine: 2 hours 10 (x3 - 6 hours 30)

Recumbent Exercise Bike: 1 hour 48 (x3 5 hours 24)

Treadmill: 3 hours 54 (x3 - 11 hours 42)

3 x 274 press ups = 822

Total: 23hours 36 (plus breaks and press ups)

Then added exercises to finish 27.4 hours of continuous exercise.

If sounds tough, please donate. I could use all of the motivation I can get!!

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Yet historically, only one percent of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

Show your support and provide the motivation I need to make it through one of the toughest sessions I've ever done!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
