We’re on a mission to change the lives of learning disabled people for the better. So you and your family can live the best life possible. Your life. Your way

Story

I'm taking on a Skydive challenge for Hft as part of their 60th birthday celebrations, to support people who are living with learning disabilities, people just like me.

Hft supports almost 2,000 adults with a learning disability to live their best life possible.

Services range from residential care to supporting people to live independently in their own homes – from a few hours a week to 24 hours a day. Hft also helps people with learning disabilities to make friends and to find work.

Hft was set up by a group of parents in 1962 who wanted their loved ones to thrive in the future rather than just get by. And 60 years on, we've grown to providing services across England and Wales which helps the people we support to continue doing just that.

To give you some context, your sponsorship could pay for:

- £20 could go towards a bowling trip for four people with learning disabilities who are part of our friendship service Luv2meetU.

- £50 could help someone with a learning disability and their family feel less alone by paying for a specialist workshop where they'll learn how to access the support they need.

- £100 could help give someone the tools they need to communicate with others e.g. a communication aid that makes common phrases just one button press away.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
