The Supportive Recovery Unit is a male inpatient Rehabilitation Ward in Treorchy, South Wales. We specialise in looking after adult males with enduring mental illness.Following a recent documentary about Former Leeds Rhinos Star, Rob Burrows who is living with Motor Neurone Disease, a group of staff had an idea to raise money for the MND Association. MND has also affected family members of staff working at SRU.MND is a debilitating disease which affects the brain and nervous system, causing them to stop working over time.Currently there is no Cure for MND.Staff at SRU will attempt to walk/Run the distance it takes to walk to the Leeds Rhino Stadium, Emerald Headington and back, throughout the month of November. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
After watching the documentary on Leeds Rhinos Legend, Rob Burrow (My year with MND) a few weeks ago it really hit home how easily this awful disease can effect the fittest of people.
I have set a personal challenge of running 229.1 miles in the month of November which is the distance from my house in Heolgerrig, Merthyr Tydfil to the Leeds Rhinos Emerald Headingley stadium, to help this great cause. Any donation made large or small will be massively appreciated 👍🏼
