Liam Porritt is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Team: Team Packer

Maidstone Memory Walk · 12 September 2021

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Beth's grandad (Brian Packer) was a successful, Olympic boxer, who held the title of British Champion. Like many footballers and boxers, he suffered from Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which is a progressive and fatal brain disease associated with repeated traumatic brain injuries, including concussions and repeated blows to the head.

It is associated with the development of dementia, from which Brian suffered and my own grandpa continues to suffer. We're walking with Beth's nan (June) to raise her up and spur her on. The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported.
