Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am doing a solo walk of the Camino de Santiago from 19th to 26th May in memory of the most incredible soulmate, Sal.’
Sal’ sadly passed away on 12th October 2022 after a long and challenging cancer journey but through all of the struggles, Sal continued to be the most strong, courageous, positive and inspirational lady, even through adversity.
St Peter’s Hospice provided the most amazing, person centred care to Sal and supported myself and all the family in the last 2 years of her life. Sal had 4 stays within the inpatient unit (IPU) and the care, love and dedication the team provide is invaluable. The community specialist nurses and consultants spent tireless energy to support Sal to have the best quality of life she could in those finals years.
Sal managed to defy all odds and exceed every prognosis, always having the ability to amaze us all. In her final week, I was able to care for Sal at home with the support of the Hospice at home team and it was a privilege to be able to care for Sal right to the end with their support. On Sals final day, she was admitted to St Peter’s Hospice IPU and passed away later that night, finally out of pain and at peace.
I know Sal will be walking every step of that Camino with me. 👼🏻💞👣
Thank you to everybody at St Peter’s IPU, Community Specialist Team and Hospice at home team for the most incredible, selfless work that you provided to Sal and to so many individuals and their families. I will be forever grateful - thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️
