Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Here at Licence Check, our team of Saddle Soldiers are setting out to raise much needed funds for The Dyslexia Association whose head office is not far from us in Nottingham and who provide support and services across the East Midlands for dyslexic children and adults of all ages, their parents/families, educators, employers and the wider community.
Our MD, Richard has personal experience of their help as both he and his daughter Olivia are dyslexic. Olivia was diagnosed when she was 10 and after the process had been completed Richard realised that his own personal struggles at school were likely to have been the result of the same condition, which back in the 70's and 80's was not really recognised. Statistics suggest that around 1 in 10 people struggle with dyslexia, which means that you probably know someone who could benefit from some help or support with academic tasks such as reading, writing, spelling etc. or organisation and time management skills. As the Association does not receive any government funding, and relies totally on donations and the income it receives from selling it's services we want to raise as much as possible to help them to continue their work. If you would like to find out more about the work that they do visit www.dyslexia.uk.net
Our Saddle Soldiers are LICENCECHECK employees, family members and friends, a mixed bunch of novice cyclists, some who have really grasped the challenge by both handlebars and others who may not be as committed to the 5.00 am training sessions but are just as keen to push the pedals and help to raise lots of cash for a good cause. There are two courses, 25 miles and 50 miles and each of the team are choosing which distance is best for them, but at this stage most are aiming for the 50 miles! Whichever, its going to be a great team effort with a lot of fun on the way, and we hope that you would like to be part of it by making a donation to enable us to reach our target. If you can donate, please also complete the Gift Aid section as it will add more to the fund.
