Story
We are a group of people with Parkinson's who exercise together weekly in Kew and Hampton Hill led by our teacher Lidia. Not only do we work hard at slowing our symptoms and improving our quality of life though exercise we also share our knowledge and support each other in our valuable after class social time accompanied by well-earned refreshments and we have been known to consume the odd chocolate biscuit or two…
This cruel and degenerative illness is the fastest growing neurological condition and has no cure. As a group we want to support fundraising endeavours and so to that end we are holding our own October Walking Challenge as part of that organised by Cure Parkinson's. And what better way than to join forces with friends and families on Sunday 12th October and walk around Bushy Park in SW London. The ultimate aim, for those who can, is to complete a 10 km loop of the park, but given our range of ages (late 50s to 90s) and different abilities due to Parkinson’s any distance will be an achievement.
And we completed it! 13 of us with parkinson's walked a total of 123 km! What a wonderful day and thank you all for your amazing support!
