We are the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer Research UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (1089464), Scotland (SC041666), the Isle of Man (1103) and Jersey (247).

Story

Many orchestras, bands and choirs across the country are currently silent, unable to rehearse. The Virtual Symphonies projects aim to help keep the music playing, bringing together musicians from across the UK, Europe and beyond to share music together online.

During autumn 2020, we'll explore 6 symphonies which marked a point of change in the life of their composer. At the same time, we'll make our own small contribution to changing lives, raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on cancer research funding. Research projects and clinical trials have been paused or cancelled. Yet each £30 we raise could help to keep a patient on a clinical trial for a day - the power to change lives is in our hands.

Music changes the lives of everyone involved in it. At a time when we all passionately believe in keeping the music playing, we also want to use the power of music to change other people's lives for the better.
