We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

LIFT Bhangra is a social action project that aims to help tackle mental health through Bhangra. Our aims are simple:

  1. To raise awareness of mental health
issues particularly in the Indian community
  2. To educate students on the importance
of prioritising your mental and physical health
  3. To show how Bhangra can help
alleviate the symptoms of stress, anxiety and low mood
  4. To spread positivity through dance

At our Bhangra class, we have chosen to raise money for the charity CALM because its principles are very well aligned with that of LIFT Bhangra, and that is de-stigmatising minority mental health.

Mental health can affect anyone, regardless of your age, gender, or ethnicity.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Their goal is a life less miserable for you, your friends, your family and for all men. CALM PROVIDES:

  • A free and anonymous helpline 0800 58 58 58 and webchat (5pm-12am daily) staffed by trained professionals
  • Bereavement support
  • A website www.theCALMzone.net with inspiring content by men for men
  • Campaigns tackling stereotypes of masculinity, suicide and male mental health.

Help us save lives.
