Story
We are a team of six Cheshire Police IT guys challenging ourselves with a night hike up the “Mighty” Yewbarrow as part of Light the Lakes 2019. Yewbarrow is not amongst the highest peaks in the lakes, but it is known as one of the toughest ascents at 628m (2060 feet) elevation over a short distance of one mile. The aim is to reach the summit early morning (2.30-3.00am) and set off several blue flares in memory of fallen Police Officers. We are putting ourselves out of our comfort zone and tackling the mountain head on for a good cause if you would like to support us.
Care of Police Survivors (otherwise known as COPS) is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives whilst on duty. We aim to ensure that survivors have all the help they need to cope with such a tragedy, and that they remain part of the police family as they rebuild their lives.
