Story

Thursday 19th August - soooooooo close!

I'm up to almost target level now and can't wait to pass the mark. Should be able to do it in the next few weeks as two more donations to collect. London Moon Walk is in May next year if I remember correctly - wahoo! Also saw a charity sponsored big stuff drive (large and unusual vehicles). Might give that a go if it happens again as I won't be able to get organised in time as it's close to my exams.

Well my last posting will be when I've reached the target, bye for now xxx

Friday 6th August - back to normal:

got back on bike today and didn't get off to push - wicked! Over halfway to reaching my sponsorship target also so that's great!

Have had some interesting suggestions for my next challenge - thank you Nick.

I know I keep going on but thank you so much for all your sponsorship, this walk raised £200,000 last year  and it feels good to know we're helping. Love lisa xxx

Wednesday 4th August - recovery phase:

well the hips, legs, feet and toes (apart from the impending loss of a big toe nail) are all back to normal now and the donations are starting to come in.

A big thank you to all of you who have been so generous and giving me a great incentive to complete the walk and to contemplate it again for next year. I'm also considering doing the London Moonlit Walk - again 26 miles along the marathon route I believe. We'll see! Onwards & upwards, ha ha!! Love lisa xxx

Sunday 1st August - post-walk posting!

I've done it and survived!

Teamed up with Jo on the night, a naval dental nurse with two young children, and we completed the walk in about 6 hours and 45 mins. It was great to have companionship around the 2 laps (from Home Park to City Airport, to Crownhill, then to Marsh Mills, along the embankment, up Exeter Street, past my workplace and along Alma Rd back to Argyle).

A big thanks to Jo for keeping me going and helping to set a decent pace - we were about 30th home out of 120.

The rain stayed off and although it was a bit hot and sweaty at times, it was comfortable - apart from the aching and sore body parts. I feel I need a lower half transplant! Nothing a decent massage can't sort though.

My thanks to all of you who have pledge sponsorship and if there are any of you out there that would be willing to part with some dosh in appreciation of my efforts please feel free!

Thank you to Torpoint library, Sainbury's, St Lukes charity shop, Costcutter and The Queens Arms for displaying my posters. And thanks to Richard and at no 14 for the welcome home poster - made me smile a lot!

I'm now half tempted to do a half marathon and might be in need of a training partner, any volunteers?

31st July 2010, early on walk night:

Hi, so far I've got about £100 pledged so am about half way there, obviously only if I complete it.

It's Saturday 5pm now and I'm nervous, wondering if my feet and blood sugars will behave. Have my costume sorted and nice pink laces in my trainers. Hope the shower forecast for 4am misses as I can't be arsed to carry a brolly!

The next posting I make will be after the walk now as won't be able to move much tomorrow I expect!

Please pass my web link on to anyone you know who might like to donate and thank you if you do.

Hi,

thank you for taking the time to read my page and please leave any message you wish, or even better leave a message on my mobile 07847681447 whilst I'm doing the walk to keep me going! (if you should be awake at that ridiculous hour!)

Last year the four of us managed the 13 mile and I'm hoping to do the 26 mile route this year (2 laps).

This is an amazing experience, and I fear I'm hooked now, with such a tangible sense of togetherness that comes from walking with so many other women.

The firemen at the start were impressive and on hand should the fire-eater (God that bloke could blow!) get it wrong.

The reception we got along the way was fab, from vans & cars tooting to yells from others on a night out on the town. The marshalls were really encouraging and helpful, which made us feel good too.

My feet held up well although the legs were wobbly at the end, just like a Saturday night out strutting my stuff!

So, fingers crossed this year!

If you are able to donate I am very grateful, especially given the latest budget! I'm also grateful for any support you give me too. I raised £150 last year and I'd like to better that this year if possible.

Love Lisa xxx
