97 Year Old Lily's Marathon

Lily's Marathon · 28 April 2020
Lily is walking the corridor of her apartment block, 70 metres, 6 times a day for 1 month to raise money for the Armed Forces Charity:
"HELP for HEROES"
Throughout the past 15 years she has suffered from Parkinson’s disease, had a hip replacement (whilst awake) followed by a stroke, diabetes and in the past months has fallen twice and broken her hip and humerus and is finding walking a great challenge.
She would like to achieve this Marathon (well it is to her) for “HELP for HEROES” as her six brothers and beloved husband Joe all served for their country during the Second World War and her father and uncles during the First World War. Lily worked in the East End of London making parts for the Hosier Glider Planes and webbing, parachutes, and uniforms for the Military, alongside thousands of men and women for the War Effort.
She said “that if it was the last thing that she did she would love to do something good for her Country and the boys in the Armed Forces”.
