Story
On Sunday 10 December 2017 we woke up full of anticipation that this would be the day Lily finally arrived. We’d passed her due date the Monday before and were waiting for her, hoping she’d come soon. We made our way to the hospital later that day in labour and it was there that we were told that Lily no longer had a heartbeat. She was stillborn a couple of hours later.
We held Lily and she was so perfect she looked like she could have been sleeping. We spent that night and the following morning with Lily and our family. We were in shock that she was suddenly gone, a feeling that has stayed with us for a long time after. We were, and are, full of love for our beautiful daughter. Leaving Lily and coming home from the hospital without her was painful in a way that’s difficult to describe.
Since we lost Lily we’ve been trying to come to terms with our lives without her in it. We’d had a healthy pregnancy and were totally unprepared for what happened. Lily’s death was unexplained as she was healthy and there was no obvious reason that could be found for it.
We think about and miss Lily every day and are doing all we can to remember her with love. We are raising money for Tommy’s. Tommy's funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and this includes work to try and make sure that more parents get answers about why their babies die.
