Story
Hello all,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page - I cannot begin to tell you how much your support means to me and the people of Africa. Having spent some time with our Jinja team in Uganda this summer, seeing the impact they're having on thousands of young people, giving them hope for a future without AIDS and ensuring those who have been affected or infected with HIV are able to make a positive contribution to their communities, makes me eternally proud. Life is so fragile in Africa, yet those I have worked with greet every day as a new gift and are determined to grab it and cling on for all their worth. I have danced, sung, worked with and prayed with the most beautiful people in the world and feel truly blessed to be involved with a charity which is saving the lives. To find out more about the extraordinary people I've been working with log onto: http://www.act4africa.org.uk/lunchamonth.php to read my newsletter.
Well, now is the time to do my big bike ride to raise as much as I can to support our AIDS Education Programmes in Africa. I need no more inspiration that the memories of so many who have overcome such terrible traumas in the face of adversity and a donation from you to keep me going. On Sunday 7th September I will endeavour to peddle 100KM through the Cheshire countryside. Having put my back out 7 weeks ago and not been on a bike since, I'm not sure I can make it. What I do know is any pain and discomfort I will have will pale into insignificance compared to those who live under the threat of a disease which has robbed our Jinja staff of 32 relatives in recent years (and their average age is only 28) It is for each of them that I shall keep peddling. Just be ready with the Deep Heat and a G&T at the finish line! Together we have the potential to ensure that thousands of families will not have to experience the loss of a loved one to HIV and to give every child that we work in Africa the chance to reach their full potential.
So if you haven't already given, please dig deep and make a donation. All donations are secure and sent electronically to Act4Africa. If you are a UK taxpayer, Justgiving will automatically reclaim 28% Gift Aid on your behalf, so your donation is worth even more. If you've already made a donation - you are truly fantastic and I promise to keep the pedals turning to earn your support.
May God bless each and every one of you and the people of Africa.
Love and best wishes,
Lily xx
