We've all had to face difficulties throughout this pandemic, but so many good things have also come from our new normal. Music has been such a great help to me throughout this period.

I usually run a monthly open mic, but due to restrictions I decided to run this online and have done every week since last March.  We are now approaching our 52nd gig and I wanted to do something special to mark the occasion.

My partner in my musical crimes and half of the duo, Vine & Dandy, Will Vine had the news that every parent dreads.  Along with his wife, Sarah they were told that their 3-year-old daughter Lily had Ewing's Sarcoma.  This rare form of cancer has meant many journeys to Bristol for chemotherapy, surgery and now radiotherapy.

Lily and her incredible family have shown great courage, strength and resilience throughout this difficult time.  They’ve kept us informed and posted photos of little Lily who’s battled through intensive chemotherapy and given me the inspiration to face my own little challenge.

This is why I’ve decided to host a 24-hour Virtual Open Mic to not only mark 52 consecutive open mic sessions but generate more awareness and money for this incredible charity that has been there every step of the way for Lily and her family.

One of the benefits that Lily has enjoyed courtesy of CLIC Sargent has been Sam’s house.  This little home near Bristol Hospital means that families do not have to travel far or pay expensive hotel bills.  But to run a room in this house costs £33.00 per day my target is to raise enough money to fund a room in Sam’s House for 12 months.  During their ordeal, Lily and her family have spent many nights at Sam’s house.  

My target is to raise enough money to fund the running of Sam’s house for 12 months, which is quite a staggering target, but why not aim high?  This means the target is £12,044.  Please do your bit and donate, but more importantly, please share the pages of the open mic so that we get more people hearing about Sam’s House and the delightful work that CLIC Sargent do every single day.
