Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

During the lockdowns of the last year I am acutely aware of the fact I have been lucky to be able to spend it in a safe happy home with my wife and the cat. Unfortunately for many women and children they weren't as lucky and were at risk of seeing and experiencing unthinkable things. I am hoping to do something to raise money for a refuge that helps thousands of women and children whom experience all sorts of domestic abuse.

I am therefore wanting to run from one loving home where I grew up near Hinckley to where I now live in Grantham. I'll be starting at Grove Road park at 7am and hope to arrive at Wyndham park something like 12 to 13 hrs and 100km later.

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.Thank you.
