SarcoidosisUK is a tiny charity that exists to provide support and information for people with sarcoidosis, and to fund research into a cure for the condition. It is currently the among the world’s largest sarcoidosis research funders, and is passionate about helping to find a cure. Some of you may know that my youngest sister died very suddenly in August 2020, after a 3 week battle with Acute Myloid Leukemia, but pulmonary sarcoids was an underlying contributory factor in her death as she developed a lung infection during treatment for the cancer which caused bilateral pneumonia. She was diagnosed with Sarcoids in 2014 and the debilitating nature of the disease for her meant a gradual withdrawal from  normal day to day activites as she developed multiple chemical sensitivity as part of the condition  and suffered sever allergic reactions to chemicals contained in everyday items, from perfumes to cleaning products

Her condition was not well understood and many people did not make simple allowances, such as not wearing fragrances, which meant she rarely went out. I am sure in years to come a lot of these chemicals will be banned (after all we no longer paint our faces with lead based or arsenic laced products) perhaps if there was more awareness of such lung conditions and more funding for research she may well be with us today, but sadly that is not the case, however if we can help in anyway in stopping another family going through what we have it will be worth it so please give generously and take time to understand sarcoidosis
