We are the largest charity dedicated to kidney research in the UK. Kidney disease ruins and destroys lives. Treatments are gruelling, relentless. There is no cure. We say this isn't good enough. We will transform kidney health. Kidney disease ends here.

Story

Hi everyone.

On Wednesday 29th September at 16.00 the KCKC team made it to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. We stood at Uhuru Peak which is the highest point in Africa at 5,892 metres, just under 20,000 ft! It was the toughest thing I have ever done, but the sense of achievement was amazing.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me with encouragement and sponsorship. As you can see I am well on the way to meeting my £10,000 target, but if anyone has not yet donated and would like to do so I would be most grateful.

Meanwhile Brian has been undergoing training in order to have dialysis at home which we hope to begin on the next few weeks. We still wait and hope for a transplant to become available.

There are currently 7,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant in the UK and these are the lucky ones who are suitable for transplantation. There are a further 37,000 people who don't have that hope, about a third of whom have kidney failure because of diabetes. Lets see how much we can raise towards making life better and giving hope to all of these people along with ways of preventing kidney failure in the future.

The cost of the trip was funded privately, so every penny donated will be going towards Kidney Research UK.

Someting else that you can do is visit  http://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/ukt/default.jsp and register as an organ donor.

Most people say that they are will to join the register, but only 28% have got around to it.

You are more likely to need organ donation yourself than ever be in the position of being a donor.

So please join the register today!

THANK YOU so much for reading this

Love Linda xx
