Story
On Sunday, April 26, 2026, I'll be running (or shuffling) the London Marathon, and every single step of those 26.2 miles will be in honour of my incredible Mumma
On February 4th, of this year, my mum was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). We were heartbroken, but hopeful. Tragically, her battle was incredibly short, and she passed away just twelve weeks later. The speed and devastation of AML left our family reeling.
During that incredibly difficult time, Leukaemia Care provided invaluable support to my family. Their resources and guidance were a lifeline, helping us navigate an unimaginable situation when we felt lost. In fact, in lieu of funeral flowers, we asked for donations to Leukaemia Care, knowing how vital their support is.
This marathon is most definitely more than just a physical challenge for me; it's a way to channel my grief into something positive and to keep my mum's memory alive by helping others, just as Leukaemia Care helped us.
I haven't genuinely run in years! Thinking of my beautiful Mum will give me the motivation to train hard and cross that finish line. Operation couch to Marathon has truly began in earnest.
Please, if you are able, consider donating to my page. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help Leukaemia Care continue their invaluable work and can make a difference for those facing this devastating disease.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support
