Hi, just to begin with, just a short message to tell you what we did and why. April 2010, my wife, Linda, had a slight shaky hand, a trip to the consultant, and it was diagnosed as Parkinson's Disease. It was to change her life. She has just had a DBS brain operation in London, which will hopefully give her better control of her symptoms. In Sept 2016, Mark, Jack, Michael and myself, completed the 50 km Thames Path Half challenge for PD and raised over £ 5500. This year, we were joined by my brother Roger, who is fitter than me !! and a seasoned marathon runner, and my niece, Constance, who's also fitter than me and of course, much, much younger !! We were walking 55km(34miles)in a day on the South Coast Half challenge, from Eastbourne to Brighton on Saturday 25th August. However, the bottom line is, that we actually completed it. It was tough, really tough, taking from 9 in the morning, until we crossed the finishing line at 11.15pm. The scenery across the South Downs was incredible, with Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters ,but it was really hard work up the hills. Unfortunately Michael was a victim of a knee injury, and had to withdraw at the halfway mark. the second half was equally tough with long inclines up to the Downs again, it was great to see the lights of Brighton, but incredibly the nearer we got, the further they seemed to go away !! the last 10km seemed to take forever, but eventually we reached our destination, tired, exhausted, but elated that we'd completed the challenge, and the thought that we have raised, through the generosity of your donations, much needed funds for research into Parkinson's Disease. Your donation, of any amount, will help greatly in this research and is very appreciated. Thankyou so much.
