Story
In 2021 my friend Helen was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythaemia for which she now has to take a daily chemotherapy tablet. Accepting this diagnosis has been challenging for Helen, as she has always been an active sporty woman.
Physical challenges have become a positive focus for Helen and I have been able to support her with this. In 2023, we completed the London Marathon, followed by the cycling challenge of Ride London 100 in 2024. This year we are taking on the 2 mile Swim Serpentine Challenge in September and this will complete the London Classics Challenge!
Swimming is my weakest event but we started in Plymouth Sound on a beautiful crisp day in January. I now swim regularly in the sea but still need to increase my distance, although I can do 2 slow miles in the pool.
I am pleased to have been given the opportunity by Leukaemia Care to raise money for this incredible charity. Leukaemia Care is a national charity dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support. Around 34,000 people are affected by blood cancer each year in the UK and this charity is there to support them through their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
Thank you so much for your donations!
