Edinburgh Marathon 2023 · 28 May 2023 ·
So, here we go...
As some of you know my brother Dougie was diagnosed with a brain tumour just over 2 years ago, just a few days after his daughter Charlie was born. A shock, a moment where you think these things don't happen to us, your loved ones, but sadly they do.
After an operation, a year of Chemotherapy followed by Radiothearpy my brother is currently stable and doing well for now. I say for now as unfortunatley there is no cure. For many others like Dougie living with a brain tumour we can only hope that one day there might be one and improve the quality of life that comes with such invasive treatment.
Brain Tumours are the biggest cancer in under 40's and yet of the £700million spent on cancer research in the UK every year just 3% is spent on brain tumours. And frighteningly just 12% of adults survive for 5 years after diagnosis.
Fighting Brain tumours on all fronts through research, awareness and support is the only way to save lives and reduce long term disabilities.
So I am taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon 2023 to do just that and help raise as much money as I can to help find that cure.
I would be forever grateful if you could donate whatever you have to a cause which is truly close to my heart.
Thank you
Lindsay
