Being a parent, can be very challenging. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life. For some it’s a struggle because they are also coping with issues such as post-natal depression, their own or their child’s illness or disability, isolation or multiple births. We Help!

Story

I have amazing memories of doing the 2016 London Marathon in memory of my wonderful dad - something so sad mixed with the full on training of a total newbie runner was somehow a life highlight!

Ive always wanted to do the New York Marathon, but missing my main cheerleader I’ll be doing this one for my lovely mum who died in November 2017.

Receiving the news she had cancer in the September, whilst also living away in Sydney, to then saying goodbye just 3 months later had the makings of a living nightmare. But through her amazing outlook in life, she was so positive throughout and has left me wanting to continue that.

She worked for Home-Start Isle of Wight for nearly 20 years and helped hundreds of families and young people on the Island. Its a wonderful organisation, and a great thing to raise money for - they provide such a important service here on the island.

I wouldn't be a true fundraiser without inviting you all to join in this birthday challenge and donating to spur me on! The race is just 2 weeks before the big 3-0 so a celebration is needed!

Big thanks x

Home-Start Isle of Wight is a local charity which supports families on the Island who are experiencing difficulties.

Being a parent, whatever your situation, can be very challenging, especially when children are young. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life. For some parents it’s a particular struggle because they are also coping with issues such as post-natal depression, their or their child’s illness or disability, isolation or multiple births.

That’s when parents need support and that’s when Home-Start Isle of Wight can help.

Home-Start is a great charity and makes a huge difference to many children and their families on the Isle of Wight. With the reduction in funding for so many family-focused services, the staff and volunteers work hard to improve the lives of Island families.
