Story
Dear Family and Friends,
Thanks for visiting our page! We're really excited about this amazing opportunity to go to India and help animals, as well as gain practical experience which will prepare us for our future careers as veterinarians. We'll be working for the Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA) in the Pushkar region of India for two weeks in March of 2012. Here's some basic info about the organization:
TOLFA is an animal shelter and charity working to improve the lives of animals (and humans) in the local area. Their aims are to create a rabies free environment through sterilization and vaccination of the enormous stray dog population as well as providing rescue, medical and surgical care for any animal that comes their way. Their rescue vehicles allow them to do call outs to emergencies as well as transporting animals back to the hospital.
Here are some of the things we'll be doing during our stay:
-- spaying, neutering and vaccinating stray dogs and cats
-- treating cows, buffalos, monkeys, camels, goats, donkeys, cats and dogs from all over the region
-- helping with emergency cases as well as day to day treatment and anything else they can throw at us
This is an incredible chance for us to learn alternative approaches to vet medicine and treatment, as well as learning how to work, at times, with a minimal amount of tools. However, we cannot do this without your help!! Your donations will go straight to the cost of running the hospital, including medication, maintaining the emergency vehicle, feeding the animals there, and will also give us a place to stay. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading and for helping us reach our goal!
