My Marathon · 2 April 2022

Sharewear works to alleviate clothing poverty on both a referral and outreach basis, through the distribution of public donations of pre-loved clothing and bedding as well as retailers' pre- and post-consumer waste to those most in need in the UK from our centres in Nottinghamshire.

Story

So I said I'd do a marathon before I'm 50, and time is running out so this year is the year.  On 2nd April I'll be running my first marathon.  It will be a self organised run around Rutland water, and my husband Max will be cycling along side me keeping me motivated and hydrated!  I'm raising money for Sharewear, a charity who do great work helping those facing clothing poverty.

Exercise is so important for both physical and mental wellbeing and should be accessible for everyone. Unfortunately, when you are living in clothing poverty, even 'free' outdoor activities such as walking and running and joining inclusive events such as parkrun are not possible when you cannot afford even a basic pair of trainers or some jogging bottoms and a t-shirt to wear.

Sharewear see all too often how transformative having the right clothing can be to the lives of their service users and I want to ensure that none of the people they help have #noWeartoRun.

By sponsoring me in my marathon, you will be helping Sharewear in their vital work providing exercise-suitable clothing to anyone referred to them in need, whilst also empowering their service users to improve their physical and mental health by getting active.

Thank you so much for your support!
