Hello!
Thank you for visiting my page.
Through new tests and research, my mum, like so many other cancer patients, was able to extend her life significantly while she had breast and then liver and bone cancer. She had many happy times in amongst the harder ones. Newly trialled drugs directly helped her and gave our family new lifelines in low periods. This positive progression is happening to so many cancer patients, and would not be happening if it wasn't for Cancer Research scientists' work. But I want to raise money to make sure it is happening for more and more people, to play a small part in the fight against the disease.
Recent advances in research mean that 1 in 2 people now survive cancer in the UK, but there is still so much to be done. Any donations to my run (and booze free January) will be going toward vital research and campaigning, enabling earlier diagnoses, better quality of life and, ultimately, cures for cancer patients.
This
will be my second time running, and so have set myself a quite tricky target of 1hr 50
mins, having finished in 2hrs 04mins last year. This means lots of runs in the icy cold new year, up and down the many hills of Bristol. I haven't been running since the Bath Half a whole year ago, which means I've got two months to get my act together, so any donations will help power me through to get out of bed and put my trainers on!
I'm also doing 'Dry January', no booze for a month - just in case 9 mile runs in the rain on a Sunday morning in February weren't fun enough. If you could spare the price of a pint or glass of wine in a nod to my sobriety then I would be so grateful!
I'll keep you updated with my progress!
Lots of love, Lindsay
