This year, I'm taking on the York 10k to support York Mind. I'm aiming to beat my personal best time of 53:34, which is going to be a big challenge considering my training has started late this year what with all the election shenanigans earlier this year!
I've been lucky enough to have a fantastic support network of family and friends that have helped me when facing my mental health issues. But there are so many people who don't have that support - and that's why I'm fundraising for a great charity, who believe no one should stand alone when dealing with their mental health.
York Mind are a local and independent charity who have been providing mental health services for over 70 years. Your donation can help in so many ways:
- £5 could pay travel expenses for one of their volunteers to support in a group.
- £15 could pay for the food for one of their eating well for good health courses, giving people to opportunity to learn new, healthy ways of cooking, and sharing that experience with other groups members.
- £20 could support a young person to begin to better understand their mental health and work towards positive change through a 1-1 mentoring session.
- £30 could pay for an adult or young person to attend one counselling session.
