So, little me had a crazy idea to take on the challenge of a lifetime and put myself through some paces. All to raise awareness and funds for Staffordshire women's aid.

In February I will be going off the grid for 7 days to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain and the worlds highest free standing mountain at 5895 meters. I will pass through 5 climate zones, Cultivation zone, Rainforest zone, Heather and Moorland zone, Alpine desert zone and the Arctic zone, before reaching the summit. Around 9 hours of climbing every day. when reaching higher points of the mountain I will also be tackling the altitude sickness. This challenge will definitely be taking a toll on my body and mind. I'm gonna have to dig deep to reach the summit.

I have a 16 week training programme and diet to follow in preparation, And two daughters that are very supportive and doing this training along side me. I start that this week so this isn't just a 7 day challenge climbing the mountain. I will try to record and share progress of training up until I loose all services on the mountain.  

The work that Staffordshire Women's aid do is amazing and yet a lot of the time goes unnoticed or unheard of. Staffordshire Women's Aid provide support for victims of Domestic abuse and Sexual assault. 

"Help support adults and children living with, fleeing or recovering from domestic and sexual abuse in Staffordshire"

Domestic abuse is very common and can effect anyone. 

Domestic abuse can include, - Coercive control, Physical violence, emotional abuse, sexual assault, financial control, harassment, stalking, online abuse. The thing to remember is that Domestic abuse is NEVER your fault. 

Sexual assault is any form of unwanted sexual activity and can happen to anyone. Sexual assault can include - Rape, child sexual assault, harassment, genital mutilation, trafficking, exploitation. sexual assault can be perpetrated by a stranger, or by someone you know or even a trusted family member, friend, colleague or partner. Again the thing to remember is that it's NEVER your fault.

Things like this happen everyday to more people than you will realise. Domestic assaults happen on average 12 different times before one is reported. All because that victim is to afraid to report it in fear of not being believed, or loosing the person they love, the abuser doing it again. Truth is Domestic abuse needs to be reported. Victims need help with finding a home, a safe place they can close the door on after escaping, their mental health, trauma bonding, self doubt and much much more. Thankfully that's where Staffordshire Women's Aid come in. 

To many people are suffering in silence not knowing where to turn or who to talk to without being judged.
