Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am hoping to raise money to support two charities; World Cancer Research Fund and The Newborn Appeal.
I am raising money for World Cancer Research Fund following my Mum, Sue James, being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time and having recently undergone a mastectomy and reconstruction.
In addition to this my Auntie, Bernie Smith, underwent surgery to remove part of her oesophagus and stomach when she was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. Both are very important to me and I have admired their positivity and willing to beat this disease.
The second reason is my nephew Riley James Skeath born 15 weeks premature on 24th December 2013, weighing just 2lbs.
Having been born in Whiston hospital Riley was immediately transferred to the Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Woman's Hospital as he required specialist care. Riley stayed in the Neonatal Unit and was under constant care and treatment for over 3 months before being transferred back to where he was born in Whiston Hospital.
Riley remains in Whiston hospital as they are helping him become stronger, however he does still require assistance with his breathing as his lungs are not strong or developed enough.
We are hoping that Riley will be allowed home soon as his family are all waiting for the chance to give him a big cuddle and see him in his little nursery.
My sister Angela James and her partner Ian Skeath have been at Riley's bed side since he was born. During this time they have had to witness traumatic scenes, endure constant examinations and face issues with Riley's development on a daily basis.
I am proud to be doing this for these worthy causes and hope you are able to help me raise as much as possible - remember every little helps. Whatever I raise will be split between the WCRF and The Newborn Appeal, that's why I am also raising offline - your money will go to supporting future research and development of life saving facilities into how both WCRF and The Newborn appeal.
My reasoning for doing a skydive and the marathons are simple I wanted to undertake something which would allow me the tiniest insight into the fear faced by all of the above, albeit mine will be for only a few seconds, and also to do something that requires time, pain and endurance.
Finally, a massive thank you to any one who is able to make a donation as every penny counts.
