Story
As is always the case when you are full as a rescue something major happens and you end up with a whole host of animals falling into your path that you just can not ignore! You have to dig deeper, find that last bit of space, that last bit of money and continue to do what you always do best commit to providing the absolute tip top in care and attention!
That is what has happened this weekend. On Saturday we took a call regarding a young lurcher in a pound at risk with a nasty limp that looks like it may be coming from the hip area. Tomorrow he sees a specialist to see if there is anything that can be done to surgically rectify it. IF there is it will be done he is a young boy with all his life ahead of him.
Then Sunday morning 2 dog walkers turn up at the gate with 2 young abandoned kittens they had found in a hedge just down the road from the kennels. The kittens were thin, tired, hungry and thirsty. At this time of year the cat rescues are inundated with kittens so we decided the simplest thing to do was to keep them here with us. They will be de flead, wormed, fiv and leukemia tested before vaccinations and rehomed at the relative age. Currently they are around about 6 weeks old. That makes 13 dogs and 2 cats now in the kennels house which is erm interesting to say the least.
If that was not enough after a busy, stressful weekend the team headed out for a meal Sunday night to a local pub only to receive a call at 10.30pm which meant them undertaking a midnight rescue. A young dog had been found starving and with the start of mange with scarring and the most broken little face and burnt on urine staining covering the whole of her lower body. Thankfully someone had taken her in overnight and cared for her on Saturday and she was much happier when we collected her. Boo is now in our care and has been seen by our vet this morning for treatment which is now being started.
This week we also have to take our blind 2 year old greyhound boy Killian to the specialists to see what is happening with his eyes and if anything can be done.
On top of all the other routine veterinary work being carried out and the ongoing medical care of ill and injured this will put a huge drain on our reserves so we are asking if anyone can afford a little to spare to help us with the costs. If you can we would be very appreciative and grateful.
Without support we could not continue our vital work.
