Alzheimer’s and dementia affect so many people worldwide I would bet on it nearly every one of you reading my story has been or will be affected by it at some point in your life. My amazing grandma had alzheimers for a long time until she passed away just a few years back and I still miss her every day, and very recently her beautiful sister passed away also having suffered from the same horrible disease, a debilitating, degrading, life changing on so many levels, high impact, horrid disease.

So here I am getting Christmas cards through my letterbox when I think to myself, why do we do this card malarkey? Who profits? Who benefits from it and why don't we put that money spent to a better cause? This is when I decided I wasn't going to send cards this year, I'm going to take that cash I would have spent and put it to better use. I'll donate it to the alzheimers society....but wait....why not ask others, at this time of giving, to do the same. So this year I want to make a bigger donation but I need your help. Instead of a standard walk, or marathon, I'm going to be doing a tandem skydive on May 21st 2022, which I will be paying for out of my own pocket, so all funds raised will go directly to charity. 

If you haven't yet witnessed the effects that alzheimers has on a person you know, imagine when you were a lot lot younger and you had to learn everything from scratch. Even down to who you are when you look in the mirror. Well this awful disease takes your ability to do everything for yourself and know everything you've learnt over the years, and wipes the slate back to clean so basically you recognise very little and you will forget almost everything and everyone you have ever known. Doesn't sound fun eh....let me tell you I've seen what happens and it's heartbreaking.

So if I could ask you please, to give a little to help fight this we can, together, help beat this. I'll be doing a tandem skydive on May 22nd 2022 and I need your help to make this jump worthwhile.....since I'm terrified of heights, this is a big thing for me to do. So again I beg you PLEASE help me fight back against dementia.
