Based in the heart of Leicester city centre, at Focus, we inspire young people to believe in themselves, because we believe in them and the power they have to create change for themselves and in their communities.

Story

FOCUS is celebrating its 21st birthday in 2009 and has been a really important part of my life for the last 18 years. I started off as a 12 year old participant in 1991 and became a volunteer in 1995 when I was 16 and have been volunteering ever since.

JustGiving is being a bit glitchy at the moment. If you're having trouble donating please try again later.

Having been ill a lot for the last few years I've gotten really unfit. Following surgery at the end of last year and an ever expanding list of medication my health is improving, so I feel I need to get fit again to improve my energy levels and so on. I figured raising money for FOCUS as I go is an excellent way to give me a bit more motivation.

Every time I go swimming, visit the gym, take an exercise class or even work out to a fitness video at home, I will update http://twitter.com/LisaGetsFit or if you are a Twitterer you can follow @LisaGetsFit. You can choose to either donate a fixed amount, or you can pledge to sponsor me a certain amount per exercise session, and then on the 2nd October I will count up how many sessions I've done between 15th July and 1st October* and start chasing you for the amount you promised.

*Having had swine flu for 8 weeks (yes, my immune system is rubbish) and not gone to the gym during that time I'm going to extend the sponsor period from Oct 1st to Dec 1st.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
