East Africa Hunger Crisis
Campaign by Save the Children (RCN England and Wales (213890) Scotland (SC039570))
Children living in East Africa are on the brink of one of the worst famines in 40 years. Six million people are suffering extreme hunger. If we act now, together we can save millions of children's futures.

Story

Hello all
The Community Mental Health Service are completing a 15km walk on the 17th September to raise much needed funds for the children of East Africa who are facing uncertain times. We aim to walk a beautiful stretch of the Cornish Coastal Path, starting in Polruan and ending in Par. If you have any spare funds and would like to donate we would be very grateful. Thank you for all your support.

A perfect storm - caused by the war in Ukraine, climate change and the failure of the world to respond quickly is causing a wave of Severe Acute Malnutrition AKA S.A.M to spread across East Africa.Every 48 seconds, someone in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are dying from hunger. Is there a cure to hunger? Yeah and it costs peanuts. £30 can pay for a childs 6 week course of high-nutrient peanut paste which will stop S.A.M in its tracks and give children their future back. We've been working across East Africa for many years. We run longer-term programmes as well as short-term disaster response, and work together with local partners, governments and communities.
