Story
When my friend Sally shared her thoughts of a 2016 adventure, I have to admit I was quite excited at the idea and told her to sign me up. Cycling, however, could not have been further from my mind, probably because I hadn’t been on a bike since 1973! It was safe to say that I was horrified when Sally announced that
a) We would be cycling
b) We would be cycling 450kms
c) 450kms = 280 miles
d) and (if AB & C wasn’t enough) we would be starting in Vietnam and finishing in Cambodia!
You may have guessed that Sally doesn’t do things by halves.
Liz, who had also signed up for the adventure seemed to be less troubled by the prospect and soon had us booked into the local Cyclopark for some much needed training.
Some months later I can report that I am now the proud owner of a bike, I have learnt to change gears and the wobbles are getting less frequent. I am hoping that lots of small steps will eventually pay off.
The reason behind the cycle is to support Women V Cancer. We are fundraising for 3 Charities; Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. Unfortunately I know too many
women that have lost their battles to these cancers and I therefore attempt this challenge with them in mind.
