During the months of July, August and September, I am aiming to walk a minimum of 150 miles.  Hopefully it will be more than this!

This is in aid of the charity Widowed and Young of which I have the unfortunate credentials to be a member of.  WAY (as it is known) is a charity that supports anyone who became widowed under the age of 50.  Young widows like myself our helped in various ways, but the biggest area is the peer to peer support.  Often young widows can find themselves isolated as they don't know anyone who has been through what they are going through. To find not one, but a whole group of people who are having the same experience is invaluable.  The love, support and guidance I get from this widowed community has helped me through some very dark times.

Like most things COVID-19 has had a big impact on WAY.  Like any charity, fund raising has been severely curtailed. But the bigger consequence has been an increase in our numbers. We have been seeing a marked increase of new members who are joining us because they have lost their other half to Covid-19.

Please help in any small way you can.  Here are a few ways in which your donation could be spent:

• £2 pays for a WAY member to have access to the WAY support helpline providing 1:1 telephone advice and counselling (24 hrs a day/365 days a year)
• £5 pays for marketing materials to reach out to 100 young bereaved people who could benefit from joining WAY.
• £25 pays for a grieving person who can not afford the membership fee, to join WAY for a year.
• £50 pays for a memorial fund donation to help fund a place for a WAY member who’s struggling to attend a WAY event.
