Story
Hiya most of you know that I have been battling terminal cancer for the past 18 months. During this time I have had several stays at St. Cuthbert's.
St Cuthbert's hospice at Durham is like a sanctuary to me. Like a bird with a broken wing they take me in, fix me up and teach me how to fly again. Summer 2019 after being told there was not alot left to do. I fell to the lowest I've ever been. My wonderful Macmillan and District nurse convinced me to try St Cuthbert's.
I had previously been to the Living Well Centre but my only knowledge of the In Patients unit was that is where my grandad died. I'm first to admit I was was terrified about going to the hospice but once there my opinions changed dramatically.
Instead of a place of sadness it's a place of joy. Every member of staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy.
From holding my hand whilst having blood took, to sitting by my side while crying because I wanted to go home. Laughing with me and cheering me up with funny stories. Singing and dancing to make their patients happy. The beautiful gardens, amazing view and all the surrounding wildlife. I'm always fed well (very important) and get plenty of Netflix recommendations.
These wonderful people feel like a second family to me. I have had many stays and it's like going to my second home.
I would like to do something for St Cuthbert's hospice. So I thought today my 38th birthday I would start a fundraiser. I would love to achieve a nice amount before I go so this is where I'm asking for help.
If you can donate anything no matter how much it would be greatly appreciated Thanks for reading. Share if you can!!
