This story is about my second pregnancy, first pregnancy was fine, term baby and a whopper, Finley.(2 at the time)

In July 2008 i was at work, my last day for just over 4 weeks before we went on a family holiday when my waters broke at 24 weeks, i spoke to my midwife then went straight to the hospital where i was admitted for 3 days and given steriod injections incase i went into labour to mature his lungs. I was in and out of hospital until  Riley was born at 31 weeks.

Riley was born at 31 weeks weighing 3lb11oz by c-section, intially he seemed ok just needing a little help breathing but as time went on he started to go downhill and had to go onto a ventilator, the doctors found out that his lung had collasped and needed a drain put in, it was removed after a few days and his lung collasped again. I had my first cuddle with Riley when he was 10 days old and it was lovely, i could actually see his little face for the first time after he came off the ventilator, he was now on oxygen. He still had lots of wires attached but each day he was steadily improving. He then moved to high-depency then finally special care, that was lovely we could actually pick him up and have cuddle when we wanted and Finley could see his little brother. Riley came home when he was 5 weeks old. Riley is now 18 months old, he is delayed in his devolpment, he has just started taking steps whilst holding onto your hands which is such a milestone for him.

This is why I'm raising money, you never think that it will happen to you, i owe so much to the doctors and nurses at nicu at plymouth derriford hospital, Riley would not be alive today if it was not for them, matthew, Finley and I will be grateful forever, they will always hold a special place in our hearts, thank you so much.
