Silver Charity has a simple goal - to fight loneliness in the elderly. We hope to make a small difference by creating and delivering craft care packages to the elderly community in isolation, that are designed to lift the spirits of those who often feel the most alone.

Story

Painting Our World In Silver aims to bring older people together to engage in fun, interesting and educational activities with the aim of creating new friendships and combatting loneliness. Silver hosts free monthly get-togethers on the third Wednesday of every month from 10:00am-midday at the Village Hall in Whiteley Village, Walton on Thames, Surrey.

By creating a welcoming environment in which people feel confident and valued, Silver promotes togetherness. Our get-togethers create a sense of community, belonging and increased physical and mental well-being which benefits not only our guests but their families too.

We have recently partnered with Dial-A-Ride in Elmbridge who are now providing transport to Silver get-togethers; guests with no access to transport are the most isolated and they will now be able to register with Silver to use this service to/from the monthly events at a subsidised cost of £5 return. We want to make Silver available to everyone at an affordable cost. Therefore, for every guest that requires transport to a get-together, the cost to Silver is £5 per person.

A donation of just £10 will cover the cost of transport to/from a Silver event and craft materials therefore making a difference to an otherwise isolated and often lonely guest.
