Story
My 9 year old son,Liam, asked if he could climb Ben Nevis and he wanted to do it for a charity that has helped his Nanas cancer. My mum, Elizabeth, has secondary bone cancer that cannot be cured but she can get palliative treatment to help with pain, symptoms and to try and prolong her life. The treatment she receives is carried out at the beatson and also oncology at Larbert.
We had used driving force in the past when she had her primary cancer and we asked if they could help us again. This amazing charity has driver's that pick up cancer patients from their home, take them for their treatments and then bring them home again . The drivers are so kind and caring and make a difficult time just that wee bit easier. They also allow family members or friends to go along with the patient so they are not on their own. It meant rather than us stressing about getting to the beatson and getting parked we could spend time chatting to our mum.
I am so extremely proud of Liam wanting to do something to help a charity that is helping my mum and so many other's. Therfore I have agreed to climb it with him. Anybody that knows me knows how much I hate climbing hills and how unfit I am! However if our mum/nana can battle her way through this horrible disease and still be so positive, loving and always smiling then we will try and do the same getting to the top of the largest munro.
Weather depending we are hoping to climb it on the 10th June 2017.
Any small donations that people could give us would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for taking the time to read our story. Love Lisa and Liam.Xxxx
