Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 14th September 2013 both Dani and I will be taking part in a 10 mile walk to raise money for Keech Hospice. Here is my story:
Keech Hospice is a charity which is extremely close to my heart. I have experienced first hand the wonderful job they do caring for people with life limiting illnesses.
On the 25th June 2008, aged just 45, my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was started on a course of chemotherapy but unfortunately it did not do anything to help her, just made her sicker. The few months following this were a blur but eventually my mum became too ill and had to be admitted to Keech Hospice for end of life care.
My mum spent the last two weeks of her life at Keech Hospice and sadly on the 8th November 2008 she passed away in my arms surrounded by her brothers, sisters and Dani.
I have nothing but admiration for the staff who work at Keech. Not only did they look after my mum, but the cared for me too.
Doing the Star Walk is only a small token of my appreciation for the great work they do and I would be extremely grateful for any money that can be raised and donated to them. In 2012/13 it will have cost them over £5million to provide all the patient care and support services across both the adults and children’s services. They rely on 75% of their funding coming from donations so please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you so much for your support X
