We are running the Manchester Marathon in April for Mind. 1 in 4 people in the UK experience difficulty with their mental health each year. Whilst helping to raise awareness of mental illness and wellbeing, we would also love to raise as much money as possible to donate to Mind; a charity we both feel very passionate about.
Every little helps to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
Personally, the services and support that Mind provide have been invaluable to me during difficulties with my own mental health. In particular, their incredible website helped guide and support family and friends closest to me, when I was unable to do so. I have found clarity using their website to educate myself on my own illnesses, medications and support options. I have found reassurance and comfort in reading blogs published by Mind, relating with the Mind community on social media and from the Pause boxes I receive each month through the post (shout out to Lisa for these!) I also know that Mind, and similar charities, are always just a phone call away should I ever feel the need to talk. With continued pressures on the NHS, it is vital that an endless list of services, advice lines and community support projects, provided by charities such as Mind, are funded as much as possible to enable their amazing work to continue. I know first hand the impact their help can have. Trust me, it saves lives.
