Story
This May, I’m taking on the ‘200K in May Your Way’ challenge in support of Brain Tumour Research.
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is an aggressive and fast-growing brain tumour. A consultant neurosurgeon once described it by saying, “If brain tumours were sharks, the GBM would be the great white. More than any other brain cancer, GBM inspires fear because of its almost unstoppable aggression.”
That fear is all too real for those diagnosed, and for their families and friends.
Sadly, current treatment is not curative, its objective is to slow the progression. The complexity and genetic diversity of GBM make it extremely difficult to treat effectively.
Researchers are working tirelessly to change this, but less than 3% of the UK’s total cancer research funding is allocated to brain tumours. That’s why the work of Brain Tumour Research, and the funds they raise, is so crucial. Every pound helps push forward the search for better treatments, more time with loved ones, and ultimately a cure.
Throughout May, I’ll be walking, running, and hiking the 200K target in support of everyone affected by this devastating disease. Your support means the world, thank you for your donation.
