As my 50th birthday was fast approaching I was devastated to realise I was overweight and unfit and vowed to make some changes. I joined a local "Couch to 5K" group in May 2017 and found I struggled to run for more than 30 seconds. I vowed to be fab and fit at 50. My 50th birthday was on 28th February 2018; I am proud to be three and a half stone lighter, feeling better than ever and regularly running 20 km-30 km per week. Small steps make big changes and we all have to start somewhere.
Anything is possible in life you just have to seize the day and embrace it.
What better way to celebrate my achievement than to help others and enable them to benefit too
I work for Manchester Foundation Trust and I am truly humbled most days by the children I see there. I believe running the Great Manchester Run and Great North Run is a fantastic platform to raise money for a worthy cause and would be grateful if you could help.
