We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our son Benjamin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in January of this year, completely unexpectedly and without warning at 6 years old.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition, which means his immune system attacks and destroys the insulin producing cells in his pancreas. Type 1 is different to Type 2, in that it is not due to lifestyle and cannot be managed by dietary changes, the only treatment is insulin.

Benjamin now has a least 4 insulin injections every day, as well as regular blood glucose testing, via finger pricks, to monitor his blood sugar levels throughout the day (and night if necessary) - essential to keep him healthy and prevent long term complications.

Type 1 Diabetes is increasing (particularly in children) at an alarming rate and can happen to anyone. Please help us to raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to help them to fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1, and create a world without Type 1 Diabetes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Furthermore, Barclays Bank have agreed to match our fundraising effort, making every pound donated work harder.

Thank you
