Story

The Ehlers Danlos Support UK are an amazing charity who work to better the understanding of EDS and other Hyper-Mobility Spectrum Disorders and through this, improve the experiences of those with these disorders in medical situations. I still encounter doctors and other medical professionals who don't know what EDS is when attending appointments for myself & our daughters and want to do all I can to help change this as all our lives have changed in some way due to our EDS but together as a family of EDS Zebras we support one another & live each day the best way we can.

EDS UK’s resources are a lifeline for their members helping to explain all about EDS and the community they help to create with their Support Groups is amazingly useful in getting tips on living with EDS from other zebras. This is why after being a member of the charity and attending a local support group I took up the role of  Volunteer Area Coordinator and I’m grateful that in doing so it’s given me back the confidence & self esteem I’d lost having being diagnosed with a condition I knew very little about but how that has changed in the last four years. I now try to raise awareness whenever and wherever I can with my display stands and of course the help of my #EDSZebraRocks too.

The UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones like EDS UK, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
