Story
Two years ago my Dad developed a cough but being somebody who hated doctors, he put off getting it checked out. After numerous tests he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer...
For eighteen months on chemotherapy medication, Dad was doing really well but in March this year his health declined, he went in to hospital of his own choice though, he was so brave as I knew this was the last place he ever wanted to be… Then he picked up another infection. After nearly 3 weeks in hospital, Dad was very ill but desperate to go home and with the support and help from various people, this was made possible. For my Dad's last wish to be granted meant the world, he was so happy to be sitting at home on the sofa, eyes wide and smiling.
It was Havens who then helped care for him, made sure he had the right medication in line with what he wanted and provided much needed support, I will never forget the “Hello love” he gave the last young pretty nurse he saw! Very sadly, the next day he left us but he was in his home which was where Dad wanted to be and we were there with him.
With no experience of this before, I never dreamt that the support would be so good. The people that provide this are truly amazing as it must be the most emotionally demanding job in the world. Thank you so much Havens.
I’m hoping to give a little something back and if you are able to sponsor me any amount at all I would be so grateful.
I am running this one for you Dad xxx
